Why good dentists still overpay
Filing isn't planning.
Your CPA reports what already happened. Planning decides what happens next: before the year closes, every quarter.
Deductions aren't credits.
A $10,000 deduction in the 37% bracket saves $3,700. A $10,000 credit saves $10,000. Many dentists who may qualify for credits like the R&D credit never claim them.
Timing.
Roth conversions, equipment placed in service, and payroll changes only work if they're done during the year. In April it's too late for that year.
"My CPA handles it." Good. Keep them.
The Free Tax Savings Review isn't about replacing anyone. It's a second set of eyes. In the review behind our Savings Snapshot, the first thing we wrote down was what the CPA was already doing right. Then we found eight strategies nobody had used yet. We plan with you quarterly and make sure what we recommend gets implemented, whether your current CPA files the return or our sister firm, Aligned Tax & Accounting, does.

About Jonathan Moffat
Jonathan grew up around dentistry (his grandfather was a dentist). He has acquired and grown 8 practices into a group he now runs as CEO in about 2 to 3 hours a week. He founded Aligned Advisors, Aligned Tax & Accounting, DSOCFO, and NumbersIQ to give entrepreneurial dentists what most never get: a team that plans their taxes all year and makes sure the plan gets done.
